Former Boston Celtics star Rajon Rondo received a warm welcome from the fans on his first return to the TD Garden since his trade move to the Dallas Mavericks.
Rondo received a standing ovation as his name was read out as the starting line-ups were announced and the Celtics later aired a tribute video with the fans again showing their appreciation.
However, the Mavericks star enjoyed a good night on the court with a season-high 29 points along with six rebounds and five assists as he helped his new team to a win in Boston.
The 28-year-old revealed after the game that he was both emotionally and physically drained after all the events of the night, but he did manage to avoid crying as hoped for before the game despite being visibly moved by the reception he received.
Rondo will now focus in on helping the Mavericks towards a championship this season as the rebuilding process continues in Boston, but he will undoubtedly fondly look back on his time with the Celtics which included a championship win in 2008.
