Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt is finding life tough getting his message across to the players, partly because LeBron James is busy doing the same.
Blatt is arguably still looking for the balance between having the best basketball player on the planet on his team with said player wanting to lead his team and take a bigger role beyond the court.
Unfortunately, that was seen multiple times earlier this week as Blatt found himself on the outside looking in as James took over talks during time-outs with his coach trying to find a way to get involved.
James has spoken publicly a great deal already this season about his team-mates and the franchise not being ready to compete for a championship just yet, and it may well start to backfire on him if it doesn’t lead to an improved run of form.
Cleveland’s loss against the Washington Wizards on Friday night leaves them at 5-6 for the season so far, and it is clear that they are having early teething problems as they adjust to becoming the No.1 target in the NBA.
James has also suggested that it may be necessary to reduce his minutes after featuring heavily so far, and given his increasing role it looks as though he could give himself a night off now and again…
