Lakers may chase Rondo in free agency: Celtics point guard could be headed West next summer.
Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has revealed that he believes he is among the top 3 players in the NBA right now along with LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
Members of the Celtics roster were asked for their opinion on who they thought were the top three players in the league, and many immediately came up with James and Durant.
However, the third choice was a little tricky for most as they insisted that there were a whole bunch of players that could be included in the conversation.
While Kobe Bryant and Paul George came up in some less than emphatic answers, Rondo had a much easier time of picking his top three.
Naturally, the Celtics point guard chose himself with his first pick whilst showing a wry smile which suggests he may have been joking, while James and Durant completed his top three.
Confidence is a great thing and props to Rondo for believing that he is among the top three in the NBA, but there’s a man in New Orleans who would probably disagree with him and his name is Anthony Davis.
Nevertheless, Rondo is expected to be a popular figure in free agency next summer and perhaps even earlier in possible trade deals even if the Celtics claim that they want to hold on to him.
While he continues to flirt with triple-doubles on a nightly basis, for now he will hope to continue to establish himself back in the conversation over who the best point guard in the league is and then perhaps he can share a stage with James and Durant.
