The Atlanta Hawks advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals on Friday night after defeating the Brooklyn Nets 4-2 in their opening round series.
Paul Millsap had 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists as the Hawks finally finished off the Nets with a 111-87 win on Friday night at the Barclays Center.
Kyle Korver added 20 points and hit three of his six 3-pointers during a critical run in the third quarter to take the game away from their rivals and ensure that the writing was on the wall.
The No.1 seed in the East will now advance to face the Washington Wizards after they defeated the Toronto Raptors in a series sweep, while the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers will contest the other semi-final.
Meanwhile, it is another disappointing end to the season for the Nets after they sneaked into the playoffs at the end of the regular season.
Deron Williams and Brook Lopez were still all too inconsistent to turn this team into a legitimate contender, and it remains to be seen what the franchise opts to do in the coming months in terms of rebuilding the roster.
Nevertheless, the post-season goes on for the remaining teams as the NBA now awaits the conclusion of the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers series to determine who the last eight teams standing are.
NBA Results:
Atlanta Hawks 111-87 Brooklyn Nets
