Brooklyn Nets star Brook Lopez played a starring role in the team’s 91-83 win over the Atlanta Hawks at the Barclays Center on Saturday.
Lopez scored a team-high 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in an impressive performance for the hosts, as they ensured that the series sweep is no longer a possibility by cutting the Hawks’ lead to 2-1 ahead of Game 4 in Brooklyn next week.
Thaddeus Young added 18 points, Joe Johnson had 16 while Bojan Bogdanovic put up 19 points in a solid shooting night as he outshone Kyle Korver from beyond the arc.
As for Atlanta, it was a struggle for them offensively with DeMarre Carroll leading the charge for the visitors with 22 points, but aside from some key contributions from Paul Millsap, the rest of the team struggled to find their rhythm.
It was certainly a much improved performance from the Nets who started with more energy and intensity to jump out to an early lead in the first quarter, while an 18-0 run through the third and fourth quarter ensured that the picked up an important win.
A 3-0 deficit would have undoubtedly been difficult to overcome, but instead Lionel Hollins’ men will be looking to tie up the series in their next home game. Having run Atlanta close in the first two games, Brooklyn should be full of confidence in their ability to extend this series as they finally picked up a win.
