This series continues to swing in the favour of each team after they alternated wins yet again with the defending champions unable to wrap up the win to advance to the Western Conference semi-finals.
Marco Belinelli had an inspired effort off the bench to finish the game with 23 points which saw him go 7-for-11 from beyond the arc as he continued to keep the Spurs within striking distance.
However, clutch play down the stretch from both Chris Paul and Blake Griffin sealed the 102-96 win, with CP3 ending the game with 19 points and 15 assists while Griffin added 26 points and 12 rebounds.
It remains to be seen what happens to conclude this thoroughly enjoyable series, but it is undoubtedly a shame that one of these two teams will be eliminated come Sunday morning.
The Spurs will not be fazed by the prospect of travelling back to LA to keep their dream of back-to-back championships alive, but coach Gregg Popovich will certainly miss this rued opportunity at home.
Nevertheless, this match-up was always destined to go the distance, and so now these two teams will provide the perfect pre-fight show on Saturday with Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao’s clash following on after Game 7.
