The San Antonio Spurs secured an impressive win on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night, with Tim Duncan leading the charge.
Duncan continued to hold off father time as he put up 28 points and 11 rebounds in the win while Patty Mills provided a huge spark off the bench and buried clutch threes as well as free throws to make the win safe.
Meanwhile, Blake Griffin had a triple-double for the Clippers, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win which would have handed them a 2-0 series lead.
Instead they head to San Antonio all tied up and the defending champions will be delighted at taking away home-court advantage from their rivals for now.
Elsewhere, both the Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies opened up a two-game series lead with wins over the Brooklyn Nets and the Portland Trail Blazers respectively.
The Hawks were made to work for their W with Deron Williams having the perfect opportunity to tie the game with 10 seconds remaining and send it to overtime with a missed open jumper, and so the Nets have it all to do in Brooklyn later this week.
Meanwhile, the Blazers are really staring down the barrel as they had no answer for the ‘grit and grind’ of Memphis who won with ease as the visitors couldn’t find their range from beyond the arc consistently.
LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard aren’t enough on the offensive end and the likes of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol continued to bully them throughout to claim the win.
NBA Results:
Brooklyn Nets 91-96 Atlanta Hawks
Portland Trail Blazers 82-97 Memphis Grizzlies
San Antonio Spurs 111-107 Los Angeles Clippers
