Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul delivered an MVP-level performance of his own on Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Paul had 33 points and nine assists in the win as he scored or assisted on 54 of the Clippers’ 120 points, with JJ Redick adding 25 points in a huge road win for the team while DeAndre Jordan had another monster game with 18 points and 17 rebounds.
The result ended a seven-game home winning streak for OKC who continue to struggle to make the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference their own.
Oklahoma City fell a half-game behind the New Orleans Pelicans with this loss, as Russell Westbrook finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists after recording five triple-doubles in his previous six games. However, he also had a career-high 10 turnovers on Wednesday which were critical for OKC.
Elsewhere, the Chicago Bulls won on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers despite their roster being decimated by injuries.
Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson and Joakim Noah were all ruled out, and so Aaron Brooks stepped up with 31 points, four rebounds and five assists.
Pau Gasol added 27 points and 16 rebounds while Nikola Mirotic had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the visitors who managed to put what they had left together to claim the win.
There were also impressive wins for the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets who defeated the Charlotte Hornets and Atlanta Hawks respectively, while there was a real shock in Boston as the Celtics beat the Memphis Grizzlies.
However, there were no surprises in Golden State as the Warriors held off the Detroit Pistons behind 27 points from Klay Thompson, while the Portland Trail Blazers overcame the Houston Rockets thanks to a 26-point and 14-rebound performance from LaMarcus Aldridge.
