Thomas comes back to haunt the Suns…
Houston Rockets guard James Harden registered a triple-double in the win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night, putting up 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
It was Harden’s second triple-double of the season as he overcame a slow start to get into his rhythm while Andrew Wiggins responded for the Timberwolves with 30 points.
However, despite the rookie’s heroic efforts, it wasn’t enough to ensure Minnesota avoided a third loss in four games as Harden produced a display worthy of earning his team a win as the Rockets now improve to 38-18 for the season.
Elsewhere, the Chicago Bulls picked up a hard-fought win over the Milwaukee Bucks as Nikola Mirotic put up a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Tony Snell added 20 points off the bench while Pau Gasol had 15 points and 10 boards as Chicago dominated rebounding and finished with a 62-41 advantage.
Joakim Noah added eight points and 16 rebounds while Jimmy Butler had 11 points and nine boards, but Derrick Rose was the odd man out as he went 1-of-13 shooting for eight points as he continues to struggle since the All-Star break.
Meanwhile, both the Toronto Raptors and Phoenix Suns fell to defeat on Monday, losing to the New Orleans Pelicans and Boston Celtics respectively.
An injury-ravaged Pelicans side overcame an 18-point deficit to deny Toronto while Isaiah Thomas came back to haunt his former team as he scored 21 points including eight points in the final 1:37 to inflict a defeat on them.
Staying in the West, the San Antonio Spurs continue to struggle and saw their losing streak extended to three games after a loss to the Utah Jazz. In contrast, there were no such problems for the Memphis Grizzlies who ground out a closely-fought win over the Los Angeles Clippers with Mike Conley putting up 18 points and seven assists.
