The Golden State Warriors matched their franchise record for wins in a season after defeating the Memphis Grizzlies with ease on the road on Friday night.
Stephen Curry dropped 38 points and 10 assists on the second-best team in the Western Conference, with the Grizzlies still being plagued by issues within the team since the All-Star break.
However, it was a memorable night for the current Warriors group as they moved to 59-13 for the year with their eighth straight victory which almost secures their place at the top of the standings.
Klay Thompson added 28 points while Draymond Green had 10 as Golden State executed on both ends of the court and continue to dominate ahead of the playoffs.
Staying in the West, the San Antonio Spurs continued their impressive recent form with a win over the Dallas Mavericks as Boris Diaw led the way with 19 points.
The Spurs (46-26) extended their lead in sixth spot and evened their season series with the Mavs to 2-2 after avoiding another slip-up in surrendering a sizeable lead to their rivals.
Over in the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks claimed top seed in the East for only the second time in franchise history with a win over the Miami Heat.
DeMarre Carroll scored 24 points as the Hawks never trailed in the game and celebrated their fine run this year. However, coach Mike Budenholzer will be fully aware of the requirement to remain focused ahead of the playoffs.
The Toronto Raptors claimed the Atlantic Division for the second consecutive year with their win over the Los Angeles Lakers, but it wasn’t a good night for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they saw their four-game winning streak snapped by the Brooklyn Nets.
