Ohio State Buckeyes guard D’Angelo Russell put on a real performance in the round of 64 to help his team secure a 75-72 win over VCU on Thursday night.

Russell ended the game with 28 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field, while he also grabbed six rebounds and had two blocks although finished the game with just a solitary assist.
Amir Williams and Jae’Sean Tate both finished with double figures in the win, but it was still a tense ending to the game as the two teams couldn’t be separated in regulation.
However, the five additional minutes saw Ohio State prevail as the 10th seed progress to face Arizona in the next round, while it is the end of the road for VCU who missed a key shot in OT which could have tied up the game with seconds remaining.
Melvin Johnson produced an inspired performance off the bench with 17 points, and he turned the game into a thriller late on as he drained back-to-back threes to tie it up.
However, VCU ran a play with seconds remaining and opted to go with Treveon Graham with the last-ditch shot which missed to seal their fate.
Nevertheless, it was still an enthralling game with Russell taking the limelight after a dazzling performance which would have undoubtedly grabbed the attention of their future opponents.
