Hampton defeated Manhattan 74-64 in their First Four clash in Dayton on Tuesday and in turn they advance to the NCAA tournament to face favourites, the Kentucky Wildcats, in the round of 64.
With John Calipari’s men the pick of almost every expert and fan to go on and win the tournament to complete the perfect season by remaining unbeaten for 40 games, it is a real task that Joyner faces on Thursday.
While many have written their chances off completely already, and rightly so, it remains to be seen whether or not they can produce a serious giant-killing if Kentucky feel the pressure of their favourites tag.
That is pretty unlikely, and so Joyner looked for divine intervention on Tuesday as he pretended to call Jesus at his press conference to see if he had an answer on how big a mountain they have to climb and the odds on them achieving it.
Jesus unfortunately hung up on him and so it will be down to his leadership and the players’ heart to come up with a once-in-a-lifetime performance.
