Georgia State coach Ron Hunter is still in the headlines after his fall off his stool on Thursday, but he was on form again in this interview with his son.
Hunter’s fall was captured on TV as his son, RJ Hunter, was the hero for the team against the Baylor Bears on Thursday as he hit a buzzer-beating three to win the game.
No.14 seed Georgia State pulled off a 57-56 upset of the No.3 seed after they trailed by 12 points with just under three minutes remaining.
While that in itself ensured that the Panthers obtained plenty of new fans, this interview will do them no harm either as the 60-year-old head coach and his son had a chat with the March Madness crew.
As well as reacting to the news that his son “tunes him out”, Hunter also suggested that if he knew his son was going to be this good at basketball, he would have had more kids.
Naturally, Hunter Jr wasn’t impressed with the answer, but everyone else certainly was as Georgia State will look to build on their opening round upset and advance deeper into the tournament in order to give us more priceless moments like these.
Georgia will face the winner of Xavier vs Ole Miss on Saturday…
