Knee injury saw the former Kentucky star not drafted as high as many tipped.
Former Kentucky Wildcats star Nerlens Noel admits he has a chip on his shoulder ahead of his first NBA season.
Noel was tipped to be picked in the top three of the latest draft class after his stand-out season at college.
However, a knee injury saw scouts begin to question if his body was ready to handle the rigors of the professional game and he fell to be sixth in the draft and heading to the New Orleans in a trade.
“I felt like there was a lot of doubt coming back from injury and I’m going to use it as fuel to grow on my shoulder so I keep working hard and try and best player I can be,” Noel said.
Asked when he might be ready to make his pro-debut, the centre said he was not ready to risk his long-term future.
“I’m taking my time and being careful with it and i want to have a long career in Philadelphia and I want to do right by that city and have a long career there,” he said.
