Danny Amendola has been brought in to replicate the production of the departed Welker.
The New England Patriots have signed wide receiver Danny Amendola to a five-year, $31m contract in an effort to replace Wes Welker.
NFL.com broke the story early Thursday morning and Amendola’s signing is a clear indication that the Patriots believe the 27-year-old is the future at the slot receiver position over Welker.
Welker was Tom Brady’s favourite target last season and while the same chemistry will not be immediately present with Amendola, he is an exact replica of Welker and will flourish in the Patriot’s offence.
Another reason for Patriots fans to be optimistic is Ammendola’s incredible athleticism, as shown in the video below.
The Patriots’ future is certainly looking bright after the addition of the former St. Louis Rams star.
