Jets head coach Rex Ryan has been praised, criticized, made the butt of jokes, and filled up just about every back page in the New York media in his first five years as head coach of the Jets. But what he’s never done is try to be a reporter him – until yesterday.
Known as perhaps the most charismatic coach in the NFL, and possibly in all of professional sports, Jets head coach Rex Ryan had some fun with reporters on Saturday – swapping placing at the podium with an ESPN beat reporter.
“You’ve got a job to do,” Ryan asked. “You know it is a boring day, a flat day, and you’ve still got a job to do to ask [a question]. Is that the toughest thing?”
The reporter, Rich Cimini of ESPN, responded that reporters can “usually count on Ryan to say or do something to liven things up.”
