Bulls end the Knicks’ 13-game winning streak.
A season-high 35 points from Nate Robinson ensured that the Chicago Bulls ended the New York Knicks’ 13-game winning streak in a 118-111 win at the United Center on Thursday.
Jimmy Butler scored 22 points and had 14 rebounds, while Carlos Boozer had 13 points and 15 boards as Chicago continue to impress against the Eastern Conference’s top seeds.
Carmelo Anthony had another high-scoring night, as he finished with 36 points, a sixth straight game of at least 35 points. J.R. Smith added 28 points and 14 boards for the Knicks, who set an NBA record during the game, as they took their season total for three-pointers made to 844.
Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose and Taj Gibson remain sidelined for the Bulls, but coach Tom Thibodeau would have been pleased by the effort his men put in in their absence.
Butler has received plenty more playing time as a result, and impressed with his double-double consisting of 22 points and 14 rebounds, while also registering three steals and three blocked shots with no turnovers.
The Bulls will be hoping to take this kind of inspired form into the play-offs, but first must prepare for the trip to Toronto to face the Raptors as they hold on to the fifth seed in the East. As for the Knicks, they travel to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers on Friday.
