Celtics on the brink after home loss leaves them trailing 3-0 in series.
The New York Knicks cruised to a 90-76 win on Friday at the TD Garden, leaving the Boston Celtics on the brink of a first round elimination.
The Knicks are now 3-0 ahead in the series, following another sterling display from both Carmelo Anthony and the defensive unit.
Anthony had a game-high 26 points, while Raymond Felton added 15 points and 10 assists as New York led for almost the entire game.
The regular season scoring leader has continued his impressive form in the Playoffs thus far, as he led all-scorers for the third consecutive game, averaging 32 points per game while shooting an efficient 46 percent from the field.
However, as has been a trademark of their play in this series so far, the Knicks defense stifled the Celtics once again as they forced them into 18 turnovers with Boston struggling to get their scoring game going.
Jeff Green had a team-high 21 points, but couldn’t propel the Celtics on in a first half which saw them score just 31 points.
Boston will have to come up with something on Sunday with their post season ambitions on the line, a win for the Knicks would seal a series sweep and a place in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
