The Phillies were not treated as guests, at least by one Mets fan who was sitting in the outfield seating area.
When Phillies outfielder Grady Sizemore ran to field a ball that was hit toward him, a Mets fan splashed beer on him right when he was throwing the ball.
This sort of action is sure to result in a serious punishment for this obnoxious fan, such as a lifetime ban from Citi Field or legal action.
The Mets have dealt with this sort of incident before, as one fan was banned for life for streaking on the field. There was also a time when a fan rushed onto the field to celebrate pitcher Johan Santana’s no-hitter.
