Jokinen makes instant impact for the Penguins.
After being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins ahead of the NHL deadline on Wednesday, Jussi Jokinen made an immediate impression in the team’s 2-1 shoot-out win over the New York Rangers.
Having scored in regulation to give the Penguins the lead, Jokinen was at it again in the shoot-out as his goal secured the win.
Pittsburgh will owe a debt of gratitude to Marc-Andre Fleury too, after he held off the Rangers with 34 saves during regulation and overtime and extended his perfect run in shoot-outs to three.
Despite suffering key injuries, most notably to Sidney Crosby who remains sidelined indefinitely, the Penguins extended their lead in the Atlantic Division to 18 points over the Rangers and moved five points clear of the Montreal Canadiens at the top of the Eastern Conference.
