Kessel ends goal-drought in Leafs win over Rangers.
Veteran Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel chose the perfect time to end his nine-game goal-scoring drought, with a double in their 4-3 win over the New York Rangers.
Kessel scored what proved to be the winner at the Air Canada Centre, as Toronto remain in fifth place in the East but moved four points clear of the Ottawa Senators with their fifth win in six games.
More importantly, the Leafs lead ninth-placed New Jersey by eight points as they look to cement a place in the play-offs for the first time since the 2003/04 season.
After heading into the third period with a 3-1 lead, the Leafs looked as though they would be throwing valuable points away as the Rangers fought back to tie the game.
However, up stepped Kessel to come to their rescue and secure a valuable victory. Watch highlights of the win below:
