Rangers seal Game 7 win and will face the Boston Bruins in semi-finals.
The New York Rangers sealed a remarkable 5-0 win at the Verizon Center in Washington on Monday night to send the Capitals crashing out of the NHL Playoffs.
Amongst the goalscorers were Arron Asham, Ryan Callahan and Mats Zuccarello who all helped make the result safe, and it ensured the Rangers progressed. However, importantly there was another shut-out for Henrik Lundqvist who has played a vital role in the last two games.
After making 35 saves for his second consecutive shut-out on Monday night, Lundqvist was a major factor in New York’s effort to eliminate the Capitals for the second year in a row as he thwarted their offense as they threw everything forward.
The Rangers had trailed in this series both 2-0 and 3-2, but made no mistakes in a hostile environment in the capital, as they won a Game 7 on the road for the first time in their franchise history.
They will hope to take the confidence of this series win with him into the meeting with the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
