Rangers leap-frog Devils with win on Tuesday night.
The New York Rangers led three times against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center on Tuesday night, and eventually held on for a 3-2 win.
Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had a huge role to play in an entertaining game, making 29 saves as Rick Nash scored the winning goal in the second period.
Neither team could find another in the third, as after Nash’s goal the Rangers appeared to solve their defensive issues and restricted New Jersey to just seven shots in the final period, having allowing 24 through in the first two.
Victory for New York was their second in a row following three straight defeats, allowing them to move above the Devils into eighth place in the Eastern Conference with 15 wins and 32 points.
The Devils drop to ninth off the back of consecutive defeats, but will hope to return to winning ways in order to re-gain their play-off foothold in the East.
