Mariano Rivera has announced he will retire at the end of the season, ending an 18-year career with the New York Yankees.
With an all-time record of 608 saves, Rivera became the most prominent and effective closer of all time and will go down as one of the greatest player ever to play the game.
Age has finally caught up with the 43-year0old, but he will still prove to be an effective weapon in the Yankees bullpen this season, and will provide invaluable experience to young pitchers on the team.
