New recruit Nielson previews the Warriors season.
The 2012 season was a disappointing year for the New Zealand Warriors as they finished a lowly 14th, only a better point difference above the Penrith Panthers in 15th.
The Warriors are always considered a dark horse team that can surprise fans and rivals alike and the 2011 season showcased this ability when they rocketed to the grand final.
Unfortunately 2012 showed their propensity to drop as well as rise, although a horror run of injuries was behind much of their decline.
Melbourne Storm recruits Dane Nielson and Todd Lowrie will add some hard work ethic to a Warriors team under new coach Matthew Elliott.
Elliot’s drill sergeant style of coaching will be a welcome change of pace for the Warriors, whose lack of discipline can often cause them to lose their way despite having the talent and players to match their rivals.
How well the forward pack can allow Shaun Johnson and Kevin Locke to work their magic will determine whether 2013 will see a top or bottom eight finish for the Warriors.
