Every athlete thinks they are strong, but it is only at the NFL Combine where upper body strength is really put to the test.
The bench press is where offensive and defensive lineman stake their claim as a worthy draft pick as they aim to bench 102kg as many times as possible. It is not easy, as many players normally average in the early 30’s and anything above 40 is deemed incredible.
Here is the record, 49 times set by Stephen Paea in 2009, who after this performance, worked his way into the second round of the draft and was selected by the Chicago Bears.
