Taking a closer look at the projected top Draft pick.
As the countdown to the NFL Draft 2013 continues we take a closer look at arguably the top prospect, Luke Joeckel, with many draft analysts expecting him to be the first-overall selection.
The Texas A&M offensive tackle has risen to prominence since his freshman year, where he started every game at left tackle in 2010.
Last season, his dominating play continued as recognition of his skills increased while the awards and honours continued to roll in.
His performance at the Scouting Combine did little to dampen the expectations surrounding him, with experts pointing out his balance, footwork and ability to recover in pass protection as outstanding parts of his game.
The 21-year-old stands at 6’6, and is widely tipped to be the first pick thus seeing him seal a rookie year spot with the Kansas City Chiefs.
“It’s just crazy to think about it,” Joeckel told the Kansas City Star as reported by NFL.com.
“Starting football in the second grade, you don’t really think about that kind of stuff. It would be really cool. A dream come true,” he added.
The wait is almost over for the youngster, as the all important announcements will be made on Thursday.
