Home side are desperate for three points on the road to Rio.
Mexico national team boss Jose Manuel de la Torre was keen to emphasise the importance of winning your home games ahead of Tuesday night’s clash with arch-rivals the United States at the Azteca stadium in Mexico City.
Both nations have struggled to date on the road to next summer’s 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil, although Jurgen Klinsmann’s men did manage to record a much-needed win in the snow of Colorado against Costa Rica on Friday night.
And those three points, coupled with the fact that Mexico again dropped points for the second qualifier in a row against Honduras on Friday, means that it is all to play for in the Mexican capital, with the visitors now just one point ahead of their hosts.
