Then Gordon did the rest, stepping and serving a few tackles to touch down. It was Gordon at his best, the type of form he had when he played for NSW.
But the referee went upstars to check and the ruling was no try.
Michael Ennis had touched a Gold Coast defender in the lead up, impeding Matt Srama as he tried to tackle Gordon.
It was not a lot of contact, but enough for the referee to say no try.
It was a crucial call, as the try would have taken Cronulla to 20-6 ahead at half-time. The Titans looked out on their feet.
