Thunder lose ground in the race for top seed in the West.
The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off a huge shock on Friday night, with their 101-93 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The loss puts a dent in the Thunder’s hopes of ending the season with the No.1 seed in the Western Conference as they slip to 53-20 for the season.
However, nothing should be taken away from the Timberwolves who were led by Nikola Pekovic with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Ricky Rubio chipped in with 17 points, seven assists and four steals as Minnesota enjoyed arguably their biggest win of the season.
It will be a disappointing setback for Thunder coach Scott Brooks, who had no answer for Pekovic inside the paint, while those around Durant couldn’t do enough on the offensive end to secure the win.
They will look to bounce back immediately when they travel to Milwaukee to face the Bucks, while Rubio and the Timberwolves host the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
