Tim Grant looks ahead to the 2013 NRL season for Penrith Panthers.
After a turbulent off-season for the Penrith Panthers that was largely headlined by their pursuit of superstar Johnathan Thurston, Tim Grant is looking forward to a new beginning.
Under former New Zealand coach Ivan Cleary and Panthers boss Phil Gould changes are being made in Penrith including a new $5.5 million academy set to transform the club into a genuine NRL powerhouse.
Until then however, the club is staring down the 2013 wooden spoon after losing star players Michael Jennings, Michael Gordon and club favourite Luke Lewis.
A team already struggling for points in the 2012 season, it is hard to see the Panthers managing a much better result – especially without stars of the calibre of Jennings and Lewis.
If they are to collect some much-needed points it will be on the back of players like Tim Grant, whose debut for NSW in State of Origin instantly made the highlight reel.
