A then high school player is shown why it’s not smart to talk trash to the best ever.
If you’re a young athlete in any sport and you find yourself in the rare position to go up against one of the best, or perhaps the best, of all time don’t talk trash.
The increasingly famous incident occurred in 2006 when now NBA star OJ Mayo went to the annual Michael Jordan camp as a bright-eyed and confident rising star of the game.
Despite merely going into year 11 in high school, Mayo declared he could beat Jordan in a game of one-on-one, provoking the famous winning spirit of Jordan.
So MJ did what MJ was famous for, he talked trash back, asked if Mayo wanted his ‘momma’ and proceeded to hit perfect shot after perfect shot on and over the teenager.
The footage is equally amazing given Jordan is around 43 years of age when this was taken, but looked just as strong as he did 15 years earlier.
So to sum up, if you’re wearing somebody’s name on your shoes, don’t talk trash to them.
