Real Madrid went 2-0 up against Galatasaray thanks to a goal from Karim Benzema, and appeared in complete control of their UEFA Champions League quarter final.
Karim Benzema doubled Real Madrid’s lead with a fine finish from Michael Essien’s cross.
The former Chelsea midfielder, playing in the right full back position for his old Blues boss Jose Mourinho with Real Madrid, sent over a sublime curling delivery from the flank that Cristiano Ronaldo almost got on the end of with a tremendous leap.
Fortunately for Real Madrid, Benzema was waiting just behind him, and after ex-Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue elected to duck under the ball instead of challenge in the air, Benzema was able to control the ball and fire home at the near post.
Real Madrid were then in complete control of the tie, but of course will be wary of conceding an away goal.
