George Groves weighed in ahead of his bout with Christopher Rebrasse on Saturday night, with the pair both hoping to become the mandatory challenger for the WBC super-middleweight title.
While the European title and WBC silver belt are up for grabs at Wembley Arena on Saturday, the prize that both fighters are ultimately chasing is the clash with Anthony Dirrell.
The American was wholly dismissive of Groves in a recent interview, claiming that the Londoner didn’t deserve his shot at a world title after two losses to Carl Froch.
However, Groves insists that he has the guarantees from the governing body that he will become the mandatory challenger if he comes through Saturday night’s encounter with Rebrasse, but he is not looking beyond his next opponent for now.
It will be a difficult night’s work for the 26-year-old, and it remains to be seen whether or not he displays any signs of nerves as he looks to bounce back from the heavy knockout he suffered when he was last in competitive action.
Groves has been confident throughout the build-up, and he believes that he has enough to take care of business this weekend before continuing on his path towards a world title.
