Rubio leads the Minnesota Timberwolves to surprise win over Spurs.
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio had a night to remember on Tuesday, as he recorded the first triple-double of his NBA career in the 107-83 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Rubio was brilliant throughout, finishing with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. Not only did he get to the basket for his own plays but La Pistola continuously helped create open shots while also being a big presence on the defensive end.
The Spurs were without Tony Parker, who is sidelined for the next few weeks with an ankle injury. However, they were also missing Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard, both left at home with sore knees after the win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday.
That should take nothing away from Rubio though, arguably the league’s most creative and entertaining point guard. The Spaniard also features in the top 10 plays of the night with a double round-the-back dribble, and the 22-year-old will now hope he can maintain his fine form.
