River go joint top of Argentinian Championship after Luna double seals victory.
Carlos Luna scored twice in the final five minutes, as River Plate came from behind to beat ten-man Tigre 3-2 and go joint top of Argentina’s first division.
All five of the goals were scored in a pulsating second half with the visitors opening the scoring through Alejandro Donatti, who met Ruben Botta’s free-kick to head home.
This game was turned on its head, though, in the final five minutes. First substitute Carlos Luna headed home Rodrigo Mora’s cross to pull River Plate level before Mora’s shot hit the goalkeeper and was heading over the line – only for Luna to get the final touch.
It had all gone wrong for Tigre coach Nestor Gorosito – and it got even worse.
Botta was sent off after raising an arm to Gabriel Mercado.
Then Juan Iturbe, another substitute, fired the hosts into a 3-1 lead in stoppage time.
Tigre brought it back it to 3-2 with a penalty after Jonathan Bottinelli’s handball, but the final whistle blew straight after Matias Perez Garcia’s successful spot kick.
