Latest win for ‘Big Country’ sees him move into the title picture.
Roy Nelson and his opponent at UFC 159 Cheick Kongo could not appear any more different on face value.
Despite Nelson’s figure more resembling a buddha and his beard and haircut that of a hillbilly, it is his fists that are doing all the talking for him of late.
Nelson secured a first round stoppage against Congo as a part of the main card at UFC 159, which is his fourth win in his past five fights all by the way of knockout.
From the start of the fight, Nelson took the centre of the octagon and clinched with Congo before being separated by referee after the pair had backed up into the cage.
Nelson then went in for the kill after the seperation and hit Congo with a heavy overhand right behind the ear, which saw Congo’s legs crumble underneath him.
Sensing the end was nigh, Nelson hit his opponent with another massive right and forced the end of the fight just 2.03 minutes into the first round.
Now Nelson (19-7 MMA, 6-3 UFC) wants a shot at the belt and said he would be willing to take on whoever emerges victorious from UFC 160, which sees champion Cain Velasquez defend his belt against Antonio Silva.
