ASSE narrowly defeated unlucky Evian Thonon Gaillard in Ligue 1 to claim all three points and third in the table.
AS Saint Etienne beat Evian Thonon Gaillard to continue their remarkable season, and the team move up to third in Ligue 1.
The only goal of the game was scored by an Evian player, but unfortunately for Bertrand Laquait, it was into his own net.
The Evian goalkeeper was incredibly unlucky, as Romain Hamouma’s header bounced off the bar and off Laquait and over the line.
It illustrates how quick a goalkeeper particularly can go from hero to zero, as prior to that Laquait had stopped in form striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with three tremendous saves.
Despite a late flurry from Evian, they were unable to equalise, and ASSE move above Olympique Lyon into third.
