Lakers sent crashing as San Antonio seal 4-0 series win.
Despite coming up against an injury ravaged Los Angeles Lakers team at the Staples Center on Sunday, the San Antonio Spurs showed no mercy as they sealed a 103-82 win.
It gave coach Gregg Popovich a 4-0 series sweep of their Western Conference rivals, who limp out of the post season after suffering a humiliating end to their campaign.
It has been a troubled time for the Lakers, who lost Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Steve Blake amongst others before and during the series, and were unable to recover and compete without key components of their roster.
Having fought so hard to make the Playoffs, they will be disappointed with the eventual outcome and will now face some difficult decisions this off season with doubts over the futures of both Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol.
There was one particularly loud cheer on Sunday night as Bryant emerged from the locker room in the third quarter, and his return will be paramount to the Lakers’ hopes next season.
As for the Spurs, point guard Tony Parker appears to be getting better with more playing time, as his 23 points led the way in the win. He was well supported by Tim Duncan (11) and Kawhi Leonard (13), as San Antonio now await the winner of the Golden State Warriors-Denver Nuggets series.
