Short-handed Spurs fall to back-to-back defeats.
Following the disappointment of losing to the Miami Heat on Sunday, the San Antonio Spurs couldn’t avoid consecutive losses as they fell to a 92-90 defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Point guard Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 23 points, hitting a crucial three with 30 seconds remaining to tie the scores.
Following a miss from Tony Parker, Conley then secured the win with a lay-up with 0.6 seconds left to seal a 12th straight home win for Memphis.
The Spurs were without the injured Manu Ginobili, as well as Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard. Coach Gregg Popovich was pleased with the effort from his players, but will perhaps begin to worry over the two losses suffered by conceding late game-winning shots.
He will hope to get back to winning ways when the Spurs host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, while the Grizzles are on the road as they visit the Portland Trail Blazers.
