Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova each destroyed their opponents to set up a fascinating match between each other in the Sony Open final.
Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova both progressed through the semi-finals of the Sony Open in Miami in fine style, each winning in straight sets.
Russian star Sharapova comfortably overcame former world number one Jelena Jankovic 6-2 6-1, but the Serb will be encouraged by her tournament performance despite the loss.
As clinical as Sharapova’s tennis was against Jankovic, it was Serena Williams who looked in particularly unstoppable form.
She bagelled world number four Agnieszka Radwanska in the first set, and won the second with a single break of serve as she never looked like easing up.
In the one game Williams faced a break point, she fired home five huge aces to leave Radwanska flabbergasted.
Williams eventually won the match 6-0 6-3 – and Radwanska did not even play poorly.
