The Russian star puts his WBA, IBF and WBO belts on the line against Pascal, with the latter getting his wish of fighting on home soil against one of the most feared men in boxing currently.
Pascal weighed in on the 175lbs limit while Kovalev came in at 174lbs, but there was no face off between the pair after the angry scenes at the press conference earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the champion dropped his head instead of staring at his opponent, and so Pascal decided to take matters into his own hands and tried to remove the ‘Krusher’s’ cap off for him which resulted in Kovalev shoving him away.
Kovalev appeared ready for the head-to-head on Friday, but it didn’t come to fruition as he will now focus his mind on the task in front of him as he is considered a strong favourite to prevail.
Naturally, all the talk surrounding this fight is whether or not the Russian will take on WBC champion Adonis Stevenson next, but he won’t be looking beyond Saturday night as he has a tricky opponent in front of him.
