Both men make the weight and now the countdown is on to fight night…
Shawn Porter and Kell Brook both took to the scales at the StubHub Center in California on Friday ahead of their IBF welterweight world title clash.
Both fighters are looking to protect their unbeaten records, with Porter considered the favourite after impressing in his last two fights against Devon Alexander and Paulie Malignaggi respectively.
The American particularly caught the eye with his destruction of Malignaggi, and as a result his profile has undoubtedly grown with some big fights expected to follow if he can find a way past his British rival.
However, Brook, is confident that he is more than capable of dealing with the power that Porter possesses and believes that he will produce the best performance of his career when it really matters.
The 28-year-old spoke this week of “going through gears that people haven’t seen from me” in his upcoming fight, and the Sheffield-born boxer has a point to prove with doubters suggesting that he isn’t ready for this level of opposition.
Nevertheless, the wait to find out is down to hours, with both men taking to the scales and coming in under the welterweight limit.
The pair are the main event in California on Saturday night, but the likes of Callum Smith, Luke Campbell and Deontay Wilder all feature on the undercard while Sakio Bika takes on Anthony Dirrell in a rematch for the WBC super-middleweight title.
