Wales got off to a nervy start, failing to deal with a spirited Italy performance, to go in at half time winning by just the one point at 14-13.
Coming out after the break, the Welsh excelled and raced into 42-13 lead inside the first 20 minutes, including a phenomenal George North hat-trick.
Before the end of the game, Wales scored two more tries to extend their points difference at the top of the Six Nations table to cap off a truly unbelievable second half showing.
Not to be outdone, Italy managed a try to end the game, much to England and Ireland’s delight as it could yet prove vital.
