The Frenchman suffered a double injury blow in midweek as he lost both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott in the Capital One Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
Speaking to the media on Friday, he revealed that Oxlade-Chamberlain will return before his teammate, but both England internationals won’t return for the Gunners until after the next international break, as reported by Sky Sports.
However, the press conference was interrupted as a strange noise was heard in the media room, with Wenger joking that there was a dentist on-site due to more injuries.
The 66-year-old can afford to be in good spirits despite the disappointing cup exit, as Arsenal face Swansea on Saturday looking to keep the pressure on their rivals with their fifth consecutive win in the league.
Combined with their victory over Bayern Munich, the Gunners have seemingly turned a corner over the last month, but they will now hope that the loss on Tuesday night doesn’t effect their momentum moving forward.
While Olivier Giroud would appear the most likely option to spearhead Wenger’s attack in the absence of Walcott, it remains to be see who the French tactician brings into the lineup in midfield with Aaron Ramsey also sidelined due to a hamstring injury, as noted by The Mirror.
Arsenal remain level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, with their title rivals hosting Norwich City at the Etihad tomorrow afternoon.
