South Africa struggled with the bat early on in their fourth one-day international against Pakistan, losing two wickets from the first two balls on the day.
Batsmen de Villiers and David Miller gave their side a fighting chance with half-centuries but the eventual total of 234-9 was not enough.
Pakistan reached their target with eight balls to spare with opener Imran Farhat top-scoring with 93.
There is all to play for now the series is level at 2-2, with the final and deciding ODI to be played in Benoni on Sunday.
