Chelsea striker Fernando Torres and David Villa of FC Barcelona both scored hat-tricks as Spain destroyed Tahiti at the FIFA Confederations Cup. Watch video highlights here.
Spain destroyed Tahiti with minimal fuss and effort to regain their rightful place at the top of Group B – and of course boost their goal difference.
FC Barcelona striker David Villa boosted his position at the top of the record books for his country, with both he and Chelsea’s Fernando Torres grabbing hat-tricks.
The pair would have to fight over the match ball at the final whistle, but the match was such a formality that in truth it mattered little to either.
Manchester City’s David Silva and Torres’ team-mate Juan Mata also added goals.
However, Torres’ missed penalty was a rather embarrassing talking point at the end of the game – even though the Chelsea star made up for it with yet another goal almost immediately afterwards.
