Shaw scores game winner as Blackhawks come from behind to win.
Andrew Shaw clinched a triple overtime win for the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals 2013 on Wednesday night, as they defeated the Boston Bruins 4-3 at the United Center.
Chicago scored twice in the final 12 minutes of regulation before Shaw stepped up to find the net after a thrilling game which will undoubtedly have taken its toll on both teams.
The Blackhawks will now prepare for Game 2 on Saturday, after the fifth-longest game in the history of the Finals as they attempt to hold serve at home.
Corey Crawford also had a major role to play, making 51 saves, including 29 combined in the overtimes, while his opposite number Tuuka Rask stopped 59 shots.
It will have been a huge disappointment for the Bruins who had looked in control heading toward the conclusion of the third period, but must now find a way to bounce back and and snatch a road win in Game 2.
