Russian title holders earn crucial win on their travels.
Zenit St Petersburg enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 win at Terek Groznyi in the Russian Premier League on Sunday – a victory that moved Luciano Spalletti’s side up to second in the table.
The visitors, who had watched closest challengers Anzhi Makhachkala get thrashed 4-0 earlier in the day, made a good start to proceedings, taking the lead after only eight minutes through Belgium international midfield player Axel Witsel, who headed home Hulk’s corner.
And the match was all over as a contest when Portuguese centre-back Bruno Alves fired home his first-ever league goal for the Russian champions just before the hour-mark.
