1. Ricky Ponting – 168 Tests (13,378 runs, average 51.85)
Regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Ricky Ponting only sits behind the legendary Don Bradman in Australia’s best overall ratings. Although his career as a captain is often criticised by his three Ashes defeats, Ponting is in fact the most successful captain in Test history with 41 wins. He first played for Australia aged 20 and was ruthless with the bat from then on. He announced his retirement from Test cricket in December 2012 and can now sit comfortably in his country’s hall of fame.
